Our History

VeeOne was founded by Martin Hoffman and Johan Holmgren, both 25 year+ veterans of the Crew Planning business, who shared three things: A passion for people, planning and Aviation. A deep history and understanding of Airline Planning and Operations. With a vision of providing Airline Crew Planning as a Service to airlines of all sizes and business segments, and a belief that things can be done differently. Soon joined by Bjorn Olofsson, our founders began crafting a new approach to support airlines with their planning challenges.

As well as the unifying forces of People, Planning and Aviation, a shared goal was to evolve an area that had been a cornerstone of the industry for many years, and yet not commonly understood by all: optimization.

Optimization is a choice

1) Optimization is a choice: Optimization should be implemented so that the planners are in control of the outcome. In some cases we have seen optimization be implemented in a predatory fashion which often results in a backlash from planners, and crew members. Our experience is that the best results are achieved when optimization is implemented so that you achieve a balance between efficiency, human quality and robustness. In many cases just by redistributing the slack that all solutions will contain.

Historically the best airline planning optimizers were only available to larger airlines...

Optimization should be accessible to all

2) Optimization should be accessible to all: Historically the best airline planning optimizers were only available to larger airlines. With the significant asset of being the only non-airline company in the world to have a Jeppesen Optimization licence and having many years’ experience of implementing and maintaining the system, we significantly lower the threshold of achieving gains for small to medium airlines.

3) Optimizers might need a PhD to code and programme them, but you shouldn’t need one to get the best out of your system on a monthly planning basis. We use simple planning language to help you understand the process of optimising, and help you to feel in control of your own outcomes.
